Murcia has the privilege
of having just a few minutes from the city a climbing area known as
“La Panocha”. Almost 60 metres high on the north face, this giant
monolith has been and remains the benchmark for climbing in Murcia
not just for number and quality of its routes but for being the
origin of climbing in Murcia. More than fifty years after the first
ascent , the walls of “La Panocha” are still packed every weekend
by climbers looking to take their first steps in this sport or
prepare for the most daring climbs. Not surprisingly there is a
“Panochero” saying: “The climber who climbs all routes of La
Panocha, can climb any wall in the world”.
